All of our apprentices are assessed monthly to see how they are getting on with their apprenticeships, these visits also enable us to to provide support and help to both the apprentice and the employer.
We spoke to one of our apprentices to see how they found the whole assessing process and what they thought about it:
I have monthly visits from my assessor Kris, i find these very useful and I always get help when I need it. Every time my work gets assessed, it helps me to learn and pick up on any mistakes that I am making. If i am struggling on a certain topic my assessor will give me hints and talk me through, i feel this is helpful as i can learn from what he is saying, rather than just having the answer handed to me. He teaches me how to deal with the situation, and what i can do.
I don’t feel under pressure, uncomfortable or afraid to ask questions, plus the help and support doesn’t start and end within the visits, I have been given my assessor phone and email so that I can contact him if I ever need help.
The reason I get assessed is to make sure that I am up to date with my training, and the reason I receive training is to improve on my skills during my apprenticeship so I am prepared for a career after. These skills help me learn everything I need to know about working within a business, and skills that will help me become a more stand out candidate. My assessor makes sure that we book a suitable time and date before hand, so that I am prepared.
